5 Ways to Increase Your Home's Curb Appeal

Selling

Getting ready to sell your home? It's easy to upgrade your home's curb appeal — and it's so important. Don't wait until something goes wrong to fix it. These upgrades can be done any time to add a little extra something to your house. This way, you'll impress potential buyers before they even enter your home.

Maintain Your Yard's Plants

This may sound like a no brainer, but you'd be surprised how many people don't maintain their planters. If you don't have a green thumb, consider a plant that is easy to maintain and take care of year round. When you're picking the plants and planters, take into account the colors in your home. Is your house a dark red brick? Pink and orange flowers may not be the best idea. If your house is white, opt for a brighter color. Purple will really brighten your home and front porch. Whatever you choose, don't get too crazy with plants. Pick just a couple of colors that will compliment each other (and your house's colors).

Pressure Wash

Spring cleaning time is here! If you didn't pressure wash your home in the fall, now is a good time to wash away grime and get your home looking shiny and clean again. This is so much cheaper than painting your house and did you know you can rent a pressure washer from local places? Franklin Rental has many options to choose from.

Pick a Nice Fence

Fencing is one of the first things potential buyers notice. It can actually be a deal breaker if a homeowner opted for a cheap, dirty fence instead of something inviting. Picket fences are always warm and cozy, if they go with your home's style. A wood fence or a wrought iron once are also great options, depending on which goes with your style. Hooper Fence can help you figure out which fence blends the best and they always do a great job.

Update Your Door

Front doors, like fences, are important for potential buyers. They welcome everyone right away. When you're thinking about selling, repaint your door. If you can find a bold color that works, that is a great idea for a front door. A red shade on a white home or a mustard door with a break house are just a couple of options. Just make sure that whatever you choose looks good and fresh. Your potential buyers will be impressed even before they walk in your door.

Accessorize

Accessories outside your home are important but they have to be done the right way. A clean, nice mailbox is a great idea (if your HOA allows it) as is a flag flowing in front of your home. Remove any SEC flags that could upset buyers and instead opt for the Tennessee flag or an American one.
